Egypt – the keystroke revolution

Many of my generation awkard and way out of our depth in the brave new world of information technologies. We mourn the decline of what we believe are the more elegant and eloquent forms of the written word and programmed television broadcasts on few networks. But even luddites like me marvel at how things have changed. The last two weeks in Egypt are only the most recent but an especially vivid example. I wonder what what my fellow codgers are thinking about the possible upsides of all that thumb-tapping and live-streaming on the computer that know so little about but tend to scorn nevertheless.

  1. I think it’s amazing how the keystrokes and the Facebook page were indeed key to keeping this a nonviolent revolution. Let’s hope the transition and deep change continue peacefully in Egypt.
