ONLINE SEMINAR
February 20 | Bold, Brilliant Broads: The Playwrights

$350.00

This is a six-week dive into the work of six important playwrights from Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom. Drawing on her professional experience, Kyra will share how an actor and director read and dissect a play through the lenses of performer and storyteller, following the arc of a character’s journey and bringing to life the piece for an audience.

Bearing this in mind, we will sometimes read from the plays together (for those who are comfortable doing so) and dig into the relationships between character and story. We will also look at the significance of each writer in terms of the era they wrote in and the politics of the day. Each of the playwrights can be considered ground-breaking in their world, and each can be considered feminist in their politics.

When: Six weekly sessions on Saturdays at 2:00 p.m. Eastern, starting February 20, 2021

Duration: 2 hours per session

Cost: C$350 plus 13% HST (approx. US$273 plus 13% HST)

Note on Materials

Note that print editions of Escaped Alone are currently not in stock with the publisher in the US. There is an ebook edition available only on UK site. To get this ebook, go to https://www.concordtheatricals.co.uk/s/59942/escaped-alone. If asked if you want to leave the UK site, select No.

For most of these plays, the best stock and sometimes delivery times tend to be from the publishers themselves. Each play is linked to the publisher’s product page in the list of plays to the left.

To look for other sellers of the plays, you can try isbnsearch.org. Although we try to support independent sellers over Amazon, we have found that the most reliable choice for these particular books, apart from the publishers, is often amazon.com or amazon.ca.

Note that amazon.ca has The Children’s Hour under a different ISBN-13: 978-1684115976 https://www.amazon.ca/Childrens-Hour-Acting-Lillian-Hellman/dp/1684115973/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=The+Children%27s+Hour&qid=1607087617&sr=8-2

The plays may be available from your public library, either in print form or on the Hoopla or Overdrive digital borrowing platforms.See your library’s website for more info.

Thanks for your patience! We know getting the works for this seminar might be a bit more work than some of our other seminars, but it will be worth the extra effort.

All online seminar payments are nonrefundable.
