ONLINE SEMINAR
July 11 | Bold, Brilliant Broads: The Photographers

So often in front of the camera, little attention has been paid to what changed when women photographers took hold of the camera and rethought the medium of photography. In this seminar we correct this oversight, considering how women photographers re-focused the lens, adjusted the aperture and rethought the meaning and significance of photography. Via an examination of the works of female photographers including Cameron, Lange, Watkins, Taro, Mann, Arbus, Leibovitz and Sherman, we will consider how, through their photographs and their models, these women transformed what we saw and how we saw the photographic image.

When: Six weekly sessions on Saturdays, starting July 11 at 2 p.m. Eastern; emailed questions and commentary sent Mondays and Wednesdays, starting July 6

Duration: 2  hours per session plus email support as described above

Cost: C$350 plus 13% HST (Approx. US$250 plus 13% HST)

It’s everything you love about learning with Classical Pursuits — consistent focus on the text, emphasis on exploring meaning together, and a leader who asks questions to get you thinking — in virtual form.

Structure

Each Monday participants will receive an email that will contain an overview of the next session. This will include background information, links to images we will be focusing on, resources to further your study, and a list of questions to consider. On Wednesdays, Wendy will follow up with any further questions or information that you might find helpful in preparation for our conversation. Saturdays we will meet online at 2 pm for a discussion. Bring your questions, concerns and considerations to the table as we explore the works of the amazing female artist for that week. Note that Wendy will be sharing her screen as well as having the group “around the table” via the gallery view to facilitate both looking and reflecting on the images under investigation.

All online seminar payments are nonrefundable.
