Poetry of World War I

$175.00$350.00

The poems of the few soldier-poets that figure prominently in cultural memory are only a tiny fraction of the literature written and published about World War I. The vast body of World War I poetry defies easy categorization. Even the most iconic “anti-war” and “pro-war” poems reveal, upon close reading, nuances and contradictions that may make us question these labels. What do these poems tell us about their creators, their contemporary audiences, and our own attitudes toward war?

Date: Four weekly sessions on Tuesdays starting September 16, 2025 and ending October 14, 2025; no meeting September 23
Time: 7 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. Eastern
Cost: C$350 plus 13% HST (approx. US$255 plus 13% HST)

Travellers on our April 2026 They Came to Paris tour can take 50% off this seminar! If you have registered for the tour, or if you plan to register, choose the “I’m registered for the Paris tour” option.
